Independent researcher at the Institute of Psychology in the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow, psychotherapist and psychotherapy supervisor. He worked as associate professor at the SWPS University of Social Sciences & Humanities, Faculty of Psychology in Katowice. He was the founder and head of the Research Center for Trauma and Dissociation (RCTD), the Qualitative Research Laboratory (QualLab) and chairman of the Ethical Board. In 2022, he resigned from his job at SWPS to concentrate fully on his clinical and scientific work. He has been a board member and mentor of the European Society for Trauma & Dissociation (www.estd.org) for many years, and currently serves as its president.
In the scientific field, he investigates cultural factors influencing health, coping strategies and utilising available resources. He led projects financed by the National Science Center (NCN Poland) in which he explored alterations in consciousness (depersonalization and derealization) and clinical presentations of people who had been using exorcisms. He was the supervisor of master's and doctoral theses in the field of psychology.
He has obtained psychotherapist's and supervisor's certificates of the Polish Psychiatric Association, European Certificate of Psychotherapist, certificate of the Polish Society of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, EMDR Practitioner & EMDR Consultant certificates. For many years he worked at the Psychiatric Day-Care Unit in Sosnowiec, where he offered assessment and group psychotherapy, supervised therapists and coordinated an internship program for psychotherapy trainees, accredited by the Polish Psychiatric Association. Currently, he runs a private practice in Katowice, where he consults and treats mainly adults with complex trauma experiences.
